The Missionary Application Process
Application materials are mailed in three groups. You will receive a phone
call or e-mail from the Missionary Personnel Supervisor (MPS) after each
group is received and evaluated.
(Applicant must be a U.S. or Canadian Citizen, member of a Lutheran Church, and have a
Bachelor's degree.)

Application must be completed by time of Service Center Visit.
Reading is completed before departure.
Attend before, during or after application. Orientation to
Bible translation and Scripture use field assignments. Introduction
to the staff and philosophy of LBT.
LBT makes appointments and covers the expenses.
Normally obtained through the
Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics in Dallas, Texas. Teaching
staff provides progress reports to LBT. MPS visits.
You will receive confirmation of acceptance from the Director of
Program Ministries.
The Program Ministries Department training advisor will give you
guidance. Training is normally obtained through GIAL and/or
JAARS.
One on one training is provided as well as a one week Communication

Mission Training International, Palmer Lake, Colorado.
The Missionary Personnel Supervisor will advise and assist in planning
for your commissioning service and all details of departure.
